Greetings!
I just can't praise God enough for what I see and hear around Greater New York!!! These good reports give me Hope, Happiness, and Health and encourage me to think that one day soon we will be Face2Face with Jesus.
Carlos Mieses is going home today, he is alive, he can see, he can hear, and I know that with the blessing of God he will walk, run, and swim again, among other things. Carlos, all of Greater New York has been praying for you. You are a miracle of God, we love you.
Just this week we have over 50 Youth Evangelism/Youth Weeks of Prayer taking place throughout our Conference in different Churches. Of course, several churches already did it last week and others are getting ready to begin this upcoming week. I am excited that the great majority of these are entitled "Face2Face with Jesus" and are placing their emphasis on the fact that Jesus is Coming Again and how we can be Agents of Hope, Happiness, & Health as we await the Face2Face Encounter. I am also very encouraged to know about the AYs, Clubs, Colleges & Universities' ACF (Adventist Christian Fellowship) groups that are reaching out to the community through small groups, health fairs and other innovative methods.
During this month I've been able to visit some of our churches, of course, always sharing hope, happiness, & health anywhere we go. We had a great time at the Ebenezer Church, the service, music, and the whole atmosphere was beautiful. I was also able to visit one of our newest churches in Brooklyn, the Eden Church, a beautiful loving congregation, and they already have Adventurers & Pathfinders. Both churches, under the leadership of Pastor Conrad White.
The Spanish Corona Queens Church was also packed, our Queens' AY & Pathfinder Coordinators were there, as the Traveling Apple began its journey on that day. Loved to see youth & young adults do some great Praise & Worship, involving contemporary songs and classic hymns, accompanied by several instruments. Tears almost came to my eyes, as I saw grandparents singing "Open the Eyes of My Heart Lord, I want to see You" with much enthusiasm and teens singing "Lift Up the Trumpet and Loud Let it Ring, Jesus is Coming Again" with conviction. Each time I see youth and adults trying their best to work together in church it is a dream come true. Pastor Angel Rodriguez & his wife Jenny were great hosts. Cynthia & Moni, thanks for being so special, Jose III & Joel talk about you all the time.
Last Sabbath, I was privileged to share the Face2Face hope at Victory on Communion Day, it was also exciting to participate at the communion table with Pastors Easton Marks, Gregory Carroll, and the Elders of the Victory Church. The lunch was delicious and served with so much taste, good job guys. Channa Smith, one of our Master Guides at Victory, served the tables with such dedication, accompanied by a beautiful team of youth. Well done Victory. The Victory Church broadcasts its services, through life-streaming and on Saturday evening, someone contacted me on Facebook with the following note: "You did a wonderful job today at the Victory SDA church. Even though I was unable to be at my church due to a surgery, I really enjoyed staying home and watching you preach the word. Thank you for the blessings I've received today." I just mention this to highlight the importance of using all methods possible, including latest technology, to proclaim our Hope, Happiness, & Health.
Last but not least, I would like to thank God for protecting our mission teams of AYES Corps and Youth Leaders who have volunteered to work in support and under the leadership of Adventist Community Services in Haiti. Doctors Thomasz & Nydia Howard just returned. Nydia had a little injury on her foot, yet she continued to work and they are both back safely. Many tents were collected, some are already on their way to Haiti, the rest will be shipped shortly, together with kids' clothing and other goods. Pastor Merino and remaining ACS team there, will be back very shortly, let's pray for them as they make it back home.
Lots of Love & Blessings!!! |

Youth Baptism (Tomorrow, March 27 @ each Local Church in GNYC)
|
Youth Baptism (Tomorrow, March 27 @ each Local Church in GNYC): Tomorrow, is designated as special day for Youth Baptisms in Greater New York, several of our churches will be holding baptisms of youth and young adults. Congratulations!!! We put this special day in the calendar, in order to remind our churches about the importance of baptizing youth and young adults. Nevertheless, any day is a good day to baptize someone, child, youth, or adult, who accepts Jesus as Savior and Lord of his/her life. If your church is not able to hold this special baptism tomorrow, keep on praying and working. No one who works for God will come back empty-handed, the Holy Spirit wants to bless your work and multiply the results of your work. Work hard and smart for God and expect baptisms, Holy Spirit will bless your efforts.

Ice Skating (This Sunday, March 28 @ Wollman Rink-Cantral Park)
|
Ice Skating (this Sunday, March 28 @ Wollman Rink-Central Park): We'll begin at 10:00 AM. More than 1,500 Adventist Young Adults, Youth, Pathfinders, Adventurers, and of course, adults will gather at Wollman Rink, in Central Park for this great event. The place is big, the price is great, the fellowship is awesome, and it is a great opportunity to make a positive statement in a public place on behalf of our church. Everyone is invited; this is an excellent outreach opportunity, you can invite your non-Adventist friends, neighbors, school and work colleagues. A nice way to teach them that, we, Seventh-day Adventist live a happy, balanced, and spiritual life and that healthy recreation is a part of that.
Pre-registration is not needed in order to come to the event. You can just show up and we'll take good care of you. For more info, cost, address, public transport, and flyer place check our website: ICE SKATING

Teens Awareness Weekend (re-scheduled for several ONE DAY Rallies by areas): For 2010 we have adapted the program to make it more accessible to more teens. Rather than having a one weekend event at the Hilton, we will have several one day Hope, Happiness, & Health Rallies in different areas of our Conference. The Doctors will be there to present to the teens and will also have separate sessions for the parents/adults. Our first Hope, Happiness, & Health Rally will take place in Upstate New York in April 24. All details will be announced shortly.

Worldwide Traveling Bible Comes to New York (June 2, 2010)
|
Worldwide Traveling Bible Comes to New York (June 2, 2010): Please, mark this date in your calendars, JUNE 2. On this day, the Worldwide Traveling Bible will be in Greater New York. The worldwide Traveling Bible is one-of-a-kind written in 66 languages, one for each book. Lebanon, Dubai, Mexico, Jamaica and the Arctic are just a few of the places the traveling Bible has visited as part of the Follow the Bible tour, a Seventh-day Adventist-sponsored event traveling the globe. The 12 x 18 inch Bible is a symbol of intercultural Christian solidarity and consists of 1,500 pages. Readers can view Deuteronomy in Japanese, Joel in Haitian Creole, Matthew in Indonesian and many other translated books. For more info on the worldwide Traveling Bible, please click on this link: http://www.followthebiblesda.com/
We are working on several initiatives for this day. The entire day will be "Hope through the Bible Day" in our Conference. We would like to ask that anyone (Youth, Young Adults, Pathfinders, Adventurers, Maser Guides) who is able to take this day off, please do so, a letter will be provided for students and jobs.
On June 2, we would like to accomplish the following: (1) Finish writing the entire Bible by hand through different locations of our Conference, (2) Distribute thousands (10,000) of Bibles in the different boroughs and areas of Greater New York, (3) Celebrate the Hope through the Bible Rally at the Grand Concourse Church in the Bronx with Youth, Pathfinders, Adventurers, and of course adults representing each church of our Conference. In order to accomplish these tasks we need for you to plan on dedicating that day to spreading Hope through the Bible. We are counting on your support.

Schools' Open House Program for Pathfinder Clubs, Adventurer Clubs & Kids in your area
|
Schools' Open House Program for Pathfinder Clubs, Adventurer Clubs & Kids in your area: As presented in one of my previous FYIs to you, our Department is working with the Education Department of our Conference to promote that each Pathfinder and Adventurer Club in Greater New York would have a field trip and visit a school in our Conference. The objectives of these visits are:
1. Kids and parents to be able to see the Adventist Schools, which offer Christian Education, in our Conference. 2. Bring awareness that our church schools are also there to minister to our kids in the church and its community. 3. Parents and kids to experience how our schools function, meet the teachers and the staff. 4. Provide an opportunity for parents and kids to ask questions and give feedback to schools administrators 5. Get our kids (present or potential students) and our schools in touch. 6. Provide the opportunity for clubs to volunteer in helping the school with a special project. 7. Make Christian Education available to our kids.
I would like to ask our local church Pathfinder and Adventurer leaders to work together with us, as we implement these new guidelines and work to get our clubs in touch with our school and our schools in touch with our kids. Of course, since the Pathfinder and Adventurer Clubs are on a Reporting/Points system, we are asking all of our clubs to report their school visit/field trip to Adventist School in Greater New York Conference in their monthly report, when they attend their Open House at any of our Conference Schools.
