1. Response to Haiti: A group of AYES Corps (Adventist Youth Emergency Service Corps) is already working in Brooklyn at the Command Center established by the Adventist Community Services Department of our Conference. Walter Harris, one of our AYES Corps Coordinators and Instructors will be heading our Conference team of 5 individuals to Haiti on Sunday. In a recent conversation with Pastor Ruben Merino, our Adventist Community Services Director, we talked about the possibility of having another team of AYES Corps and trained personnel going to the Haiti/Dominican Republic Border (Border town of Jimani) to help on the relief effort. Stay tuned, but more than anything, let’s keeps on praying and remember the special offering tomorrow, it’s for Haiti. Reports from the Adventist Community Service Director are posted on our website: www.gnycyouth.com.

2. Prayers for Carlos Mieses: I would like to request more prayers for Carlos Mieses, one of our young adults, and a youth leader in our Conference. He fell while skiing on Sunday and is presently in a light coma, after undergoing long hours of surgery (4 surgeries) on both legs and hip. Just spoke to the family and he is still in the same condition, the Doctors are saying that recovery could take long. He needs our prayers and so do his family. Please let’s keep praying for Carlos. Follow the Updates on Carlos on our website, Facebook, and Twitter.

3. Prayers for the Families of Lisa Quailey and Donna Morse: Lisa Quailey’s father passed away last week. He had been sick and suffering for some time. Lisa traveled and joined the rest of the family for the funeral service and burial. Now she is back in New York. I would like to ask for your prayers and support for Lisa and her family during these difficult times.

The husband of Donna Morse, passed away last Friday, I was able to spend some time with Donna Morse and her daughter Chynthia on Sunday. Funeral services were held at the Middletown Seventh-day Adventist Church yesterday.

Both Lisa and Donna have been involved in Youth Ministries in our Conference for years. This is a very special moment to support them and give them our love. Please, take time with the Adventurer Club, Pathfinder Club, Master Guides, Youth and Young Adults of your church, prepare a beautiful message, a basket of fruits or flowers, and send it to them. If you would like to send them something else, you may also do that. The addresses for Lisa and Donna are the following:

Lisa Quailey: 146-51 221 Street, Springfield Garden, NY 11413
Donna Morse: 418 Bull Rd., Rock Tavern, NY 12575

4. Very Few Rooms Left at the Hilton for the Adventist Youth Evangelism & Leadership Congress: According to the registrations that we are seeing for the Adventist Youth Evangelism and Leadership Congress, this will be the best attended Congress yet. The block of rooms which we had reserved for the event was already exceeded by over 40 rooms. Just today we spoke to the hotel and asked them to give us a few more rooms at the Congress Rate. They are almost sold out, very few rooms left. The hotel promised they would hold the rate as long as rooms are available. When you call, please mention: the Adventist Youth Leadership & Evangelism Congress or Seventh-day Adventist Rate. For more info, please check the following link: http://gnycyouth.com/article/articleview/907/1/138.

5. Greater New York Conference Drilling and Marching Audition (this Sunday, January 17 @ Jackson Heights): The first drilling and marching audition will be held at the Jackson Heights Seventh-day Adventist Church, from 3 PM-6 PM. This will be open to Adventurers, Pathfinders, and Master Guides. For all those participating they will need the following: Adult supervision, Pathfinder or Adventurers will be allowed to audition without a counselor or parent. All should bring with them a letter from their director stating that they are in good standing with their club, should have the Drilling and Marching Honor as a pre-requirement and they should posses working knowledge of this honor as per NAD standards. The address for the church is: 7225 Woodside Ave., Woodside NY 11377-3940. For more info, please contact Kaity Colon at: maybi626@yahoo.com.

6. New E-mail address for Pastor Jose: For the last few weeks, we’ve had lots of problems with my E-mail address; it was not allowing us to send the FYIs and Updates to large groups of individuals. This is the reason why we have not been able to send any info via E-mail till last night. My E-mail address has changed, the new E-mail is pastorjose@gnycyouth.com; please update your Address Books.
