Greetings!
This past weekend, I had the opportunity to visit my Alma Matter, Washington Adventist University. There, I had the privilege of speaking during the Alumni Weekend, as well as enjoy and participate in the ground-breaking ceremony for a new music building, and other activities. Through the weekend, the name of Greater New York Conference was mentioned several times, since the other speaker, Pastor Ted Wilson, was also a Pastor here in Greater New York. I was also able to see some of Greater New York's students there. I mentioned to them, that once they finish, they must come back to New York to apply everything they've learned there, here.
While there I heard very sad news, Teddy Williamson and Ryan Sharpe communicated with me concerning Henry "Chase" Brown, a young man from the North Bronx Church who died as a result of an accident. Joanne and I have been praying for Chase's family, as well as the church's family. I would like to request your prayers for the family and if possible reach out to them, as a Club, AY, Small Group, with a gesture of love (note, care basket) and let them know that here in Greater New York there are lots of people who are with them through these very difficult days. Each time something this sad happens, I draw my hope from the promise of the FACE2FACE with Jesus. On that day He will return Chase to us, brand new, without a scratch. Please send Notes of Hope, a Care Basket, or any token of love to Sandria Brown at this address: 3743 Bronxwood Ave Bronx NY 10469-1064
As I look back through the year, I see several accidents that have cost some of our youth and our church family at large greatly; pain, suffering, and tears. I would like to request that all Youth, Young Adult, and Kids' Leaders, as well as our Parents and Pastors in our Conference take time out to stress the importance of safety among our young people and kids. Our kids, teens, and young adults are too precious and we must do our best to keep them safe and to help them understand the importance of safety.
I would also like to ask that we make the First Wednesday of every month a Special Day of Prayer for our Youth, Young Adults, and Kids. We will call it, "FACE2FACE, TOGETHER."At night, during Prayer Meeting, take the time to list the name of the youth, kids, and young adults of the church, put them on a white board or a screen and pray for each one on that night. Also list the names of each youth, young adult, or kid who was in the church and has left the church (our prodigal kids), put them also on the white board or screen, and pray for each one of them by name and ask the Holy Spirit to protect them and bring them back. We want our kids, youth, and young adults to be together with us, on the FACE2FACE Morning.
I am not trying to interfere with the local church Prayer Meeting Program. This is just an initiative that comes as a result of seeing the suffering of some of our youth, which also results in the suffering of many parents and adults. Perhaps on that First Wednesday night, we don't have to preach, but we can call on youth, young adults, parents, and adults to come to church with one objective,TO PRAY for our kids. Please, join us in making each First Wednesday, s Special Day of Prayer for our Kids, Teens, and Young Adults.
Joanne and I have a Prayer List that we pray for each day. We would love to have the Prayer List of Kids, Youth, and Young Adults from your church, so we can pray for them too. Please send them our way.
Love and Blessings!!!! |

Worldwide Traveling Bible Comes to New York (June 2, 2010)
| Worldwide Traveling Bible Comes to New York (June 2, 2010): Please, mark this date in your calendars, JUNE 2. On this day, the Worldwide Traveling Bible will be in Greater New York. The worldwide Traveling Bible is one-of-a-kind written in 66 languages, one for each book. Lebanon, Dubai, Mexico, Jamaica and the Arctic are just a few of the places the traveling Bible has visited as part of the Follow the Bible tour, a Seventh-day Adventist-sponsored event traveling the globe. The 12 x 18 inch Bible is a symbol of intercultural Christian solidarity and consists of 1,500 pages. Readers can view Deuteronomy in Japanese, Joel in Haitian Creole, Matthew in Indonesian and many other translated books. For more info on the worldwide Traveling Bible, please click on this link: http://www.followthebiblesda.com/.
We are working on several initiatives for this day. The entire day will be "Hope through the Bible Day"in our Conference. We would like to ask that anyone (Youth, Young Adults, Pathfinders, Adventurers, Maser Guides) who is able to take this day off, please do so, a letter will be provided for students and jobs.
On June 2, we would like to accomplish the following:(1) Finish writing the entire Bible by hand through different locations of our Conference, (2) Distribute thousands (10,000) of Bibles in the different boroughs and areas of Greater New York, (3) Celebrate the Hope through the Bible Rally at the Grand Concourse Church in the Bronx with Youth, Pathfinders, Adventurers, and of course adults representing each church of our Conference. In order to accomplish these tasks we need for you to plan on dedicating that day to spreading Hope through the Bible. We are counting on your support.
